[make]new is a church for people who don't like church.

For us, church looks like:

1. Meeting in a dance studio.

Or really anywhere. We’ve met in Airbnbs, dorms, and outdoors. Our church isn’t a set address (except for tax purposes) but a community of God’s people worshipping together. A more practical reason for meeting in a dance studio? We can’t afford to own our own building 🤷

2. Being pastored by a former atheist.

A former Nietzschean nihilist who once threw knives at his freshmen roommates, Tim’s journey to faith has been far from a straight path. Have doubts about the authenticity of Christianity? You know Tim sure did. Come join us to hear Tim’s whole story and have your pressing questions about Christianity answered.

2. Being a college-focused church.

College is a very influential time. For many, it is when you develop core pieces of your identity. [make]new is a church of Duke students and alumni, many of whom became Christian in college. It is only right that we serve the population that we ourselves once were when we found our faith.

3. Encouraging questions.

Telling someone to “just believe” is dumb. Science is real and the news isn’t always fake. In an ever secularizing society, we want to demonstrate that faith in God is not only reasonable but points to God. Join us for [make]new Fridays where we go over topics ranging from, the fine-tuned universe to the historicity of the Bible. And checkout our online book (really, a google drive folder), Christian Themes for Privileged Teens.

4. Living life together.

We believe the Gospel has real implications how we live our life. One of the clearest ways that was done in the early church was selling their possessions and providing for one another. We don’t think anything has changed.

5. Sharing the Gospel.

If you had life saving news, wouldn’t you share it too? Jesus sure thought so.

I'm sold. What's next?
